What are the responsibilities and job description for the Animal Care, Dog Team position at High Country Humane?
Objective: The Animal Care Dog Team member is responsible for the cleaning, care, and adoption counseling of the shelter dogs and puppies.
Schedule:
- 7AM - 6PM
- 4/10's
- Must Be Available To Work Weekends & Holidays
- 1 Year Commitment Minimum
- Reliable Transportation
Position Requirements:
- Follow established disease control procedures to daily clean, disinfect, and maintain shelter rooms, kennels, cages, and general office areas up to standard in a timely manner.
- Walking/Handling - all dogs small and large.
- Participate in pet adoption meet & greets with the public - CUSTOMER SERVICE & PEOPLE SKILLS REQUIRED
- Will operate laundry & dishwashing equipment, general housekeeping.
- Restock cleaning areas with supplies and equipment to meet organization standard.
- Maintain good appearance and the ability to tactfully and effectively work with the public.
- Ability to work successfully in fast, paced environment
- Ability to Multi-Task
- Be on time and dependable
- Team oriented
Physical Factors: MUST READ
- Potential exposure to zoonotic diseases, dangerous and fractious animals, high noise levels, wet surfaces, hazardous chemicals, and sharp objects.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted, and over 50 lbs. with assistance
- Long periods of walking, standing, bending, stooping, reaching, and working outdoors in differing climates required.
Qualifications:
- 18 Years or Older
- Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record required.
- Preferred previous dog handling experience
