Materials Product Development & Technical Service Leader
Location: Canton, OH (Relocation Available)

We are partnering with a flagship manufacturing company seeking a Materials Product Development & Technical Service Leader. This leadership role serves as the technical bridge between customers, engineering, quality, manufacturing, and commercial teams. The position combines product development, application engineering, customer technical support, commercialization, and long-term technology planning to support growth across highly engineered industrial markets.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead product development and application engineering initiatives from concept through commercialization
- Partner directly with customers to resolve technical challenges, support claims investigations, and identify growth opportunities
- Build technical roadmaps and manage Stage Gate development activities supporting future business growth
- Lead and develop a team of metallurgists and technical engineers
- Support failure analysis, customer issue resolution, and technical service activities
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and Product Management teams
- Drive customer-focused innovation and application development efforts across targeted markets
Ideal Background
- Materials Science, Metallurgy, Materials Engineering, or related technical background
- Experience leading technical service, product development, application engineering, commercialization, or customer-facing technical organizations
- Strong customer-facing technical leadership experience
- Experience supporting technical investigations, failure analysis, customer claims, or product performance issues
- Aerospace, Defense, Nuclear, Power Generation, Specialty Metals, Forgings, Bearings, Heat Treat, or Advanced Manufacturing industry experience preferred
Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary target approximately $140K–$190K
- 20% bonus opportunity
