JOB SUMMARY:
The General purpose of this position is to install PVC conduit and fitting to dry utilities underground conduit. This job has been classified by Premier Underground as being Safety Sensitive and containing Safety Sensitive Functions. New Project
- Assists the Foreman in the preparation of a project including but not limited to requirements, project layout and upholding goals to meet project schedule.
- Assists the Foreman in the confirmation of all conduit routing for underground bends, equipment stub-ups and elevations.
Coordination of Resources
- Coordinates openly with Foreman for emergency material delivers and pick-ups.
- Carries out inspection of materials daily and reports findings to Foreman immediately if any material is damaged and needs to be replaced.
Project Cost Management
- Seeks approval from Foreman for material needed immediately on the field.
- Provides Foreman with Daily material list as needed for the following day's scope
Field Operations - Progress & Status
- Monitors daily construction procedures to ensure that proper quality is maintained, and work is adhering to schedule.
- Align and position conduit in the trench and to SES, transformer, switchgear, vaults, and other electrical equipment.
- Confirm elevation slopes for conformance to project-specified requirements.
- Layout conduit routing following written instructions, and blueprints and coordinating layout with Foreman, Supervisor, and or Utility Company.
- Knows how to read all blueprints
- Knows how to pipe and install undermount pull box
- Knows how to read survey stakes and blue top
- Install and properly fill out confined space equipment for manhole entries to make PVC conduit connections.
- Properly installs manholes, pull boxes, hand holes, junction boxes, transformed pads, etc. with Premier Quality
- Communicate orally with customers, clients, or the public in face-to-face, one-on-one settings
Field Operations - Safety
- Ensures cleanliness of excavation work area and inspects for proper hazardous conditions before and after daily tasks.
- Assess the need for trench protection and install it as necessary to protect from cave-ins.
- Inspects daily excavation work area and adjacent area as well as protective systems inspection and submits findings to Foreman.
Field Operations – Reporting
- Help provide information on daily trench logs; equipment logs to Foreman.
- Help provide information on T&M work done daily and send it directly to Foreman.
Qualifications
- 2 years’ experience and knowledge in installation of dry utility conduits for SRP, APS, Century Link and Cox.
- Training in trench safety and confined space
- Able to read and comprehend prints for electric, telco and special systems from either utility company or private enterprise
- Able to recognize the material required
- General: walk, stand, sit, use hands to finger, handle power tools (sharpshooter, jumping jack), reach with hands and arms, climb in/out of equipment and shovel
- Good communication skills
- Lifting: up to 50 pounds
- Exposure to elements: all outdoor elements (i.e. wind, rain, snow, heat, cold)
- Handling of Dangerous Equipment: power tools
- Capability/ability to work around construction materials including primer glue, W-40, gas/diesel, etc.
- Scheduled Work hours:
- Summer Hours: 5:00 am – 1:30 pm
- Winter Hours: 7:00 am – 3:30 pm
- Other time as required by project schedule
- AZ Driver’s License (CDL preferred)
- Successful completion of pre-employment drug test
- 1 year of previous experience working around heavy equipment
- Must have experience working with contract documents such as contract drawings, subcontracts, contract addendums, specifications and change orders.
Salary : $21 - $30
