JOB SUMMARY:
Assists the Pipelayer and Backhoe operator. This job has been classified by Premier Underground as being Safety Sensitive and containing Safety Sensitive Functions. Field Operations - Progress & Status
- Regular use of hand tools. (Shovel, Sharpshooter, handsaw, saw-saw & hammers)
- Drive water wagon trailer & water truck to provide dust control during excavations.
- Procure material for Pipe Layer to maintain a consistent flow of production.
- Use of an upright tamper to compact and level spoils during the backfill process.
- Always establish and maintain eye contact with the driver and remain in clear view of the driver.
- Immediately signal the driver to stop if any person or object enters the vehicle’s intended path of travel.
- Direct vehicles to the proper area of the facility based on the site plan.
- Communicate with equipment operators regarding pedestrian traffic and other obstacles.
- Must utilize provided work-related items (i.e. flashlights and PPE).
- May perform general labor duties on an as-needed basis including, for example, site clean-up.
Field Operations - Safety
- Ensures cleanliness of excavation work area and inspects for proper hazardous conditions before and after daily tasks.
- Follow all Authority safety policies and procedures, including the proper way to approach oncoming vehicles; make eye contact with drivers to ensure signals are understood; always maintain the use of personal protective equipment.
- Always enforce publicly posted safety rules and safety standards not posted.
Reporting
- Meet with Foreman daily for duties and tasks.
Qualifications
- 2 years’ experience and knowledge of adequate material for dry utilities.
- Have a dust control certification
- Able to recognize the material required
- General: walk, stand, sit, use hands to finger, handle power tools (sharpshooter, jumping jack), reach with hands and arms, climb in/out of equipment and shovel
- Good communication skills
- Lifting: up to 50 pounds
- Exposure to elements: all outdoor elements (i.e. wind, rain, snow, heat, cold)
- Handling of Dangerous Equipment: power tools
- Capability/ability to work around construction materials including primer glue, W-40, gas/diesel, etc.
- Scheduled Work hours:
- Summer Hours: 5:00 am – 1:30 pm
- Winter Hours: 7:00 am – 3:30 pm
- Other time as required by project schedule
- AZ Driver’s License (CDL preferred)
- Successful completion of pre-employment drug test
- 1 year of previous experience working around heavy equipment
- Must have experience working with contract documents such as contract drawings, subcontracts, contract addendums, specifications and change orders.
Salary : $18 - $23
