What are the responsibilities and job description for the CDL Driver position at PREMIER UNDERGROUND CONSTRUCTION LLC?
The CDL Driver is responsible for the safe operation of any Class A commercial vehicle. This position involves transportation of heavy equipment as well as hauling non-hazard materials. CDL drivers are required to follow all laws and regulations when operating any company owned vehicles and heavy equipment.
Performance and Service Standards
- Items Requested (Heavy Equipment)
- Receives dispatch request through Vista software and follows through on delivery in a timely fashion
- Responsible for the transportation of heavy equipment and costly material from one job site to another.
- Equipment Delivery/Pick-Up Requests
- Coordinates and effectively communicates with supervisors to ensure a smooth and methodical schedule prior to start time.
- Clear and concise communication with Foreman and/or Superintendents on the field to confirm pick-up/delivery locations and status.
- Uses general knowledge of the area to plan and optimize routes to meet delivery schedules.
Equipment Delivery Process
- Performs and completes a Pre-trip Inspection for transport vehicle, as well as, items being delivered to each assigned job prior to start.
- Follows all DOT laws and regulations, as well as, Premier Underground policies and procedures in regard to equipment and material loading.
- Collects and verifies delivery instruction and site locations.
Equipment Pick-Up Process
- Clear and concise communication with Foreman and/or Superintendents on the field to confirm pick-up/delivery locations and status prior to starting route.
- Performs and complete a Post-trip Inspection for transport vehicle, as well as, items attained from each assigned job upon yard arrival.
Billing and Expense
- Reports defects, accidents and/or violations in a timely and accurate manner.
- Reports daily hours in a timely and accurate manner.
- Valid CDL Class A license / valid medical card
- Ability to work safely and efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Extensive knowledge of applicable truck driving rules and regulations
- Ability to move heavy equipment and materials
- Able to lift 50 lb.
- Ability to stay flexible with schedule
- Adaptability and foresight to handle unexpected situations (traffic, weather, conditions etc.)
- Willing to submit to background/drug checks and provide employment references/recommendations
- Ability to prioritize and organize, work well under stress
- Hands on experience with electronic equipment and software (GPS, Smart Phones, etc.)
- Self-motivated – driven to achieve results
- Work with team members maintaining a positive and supportive attitude
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED) preferred
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience required or a combination of education and experience.
