About the Opportunity

Our client is a well-established retail/wholesale organization with multiple locations throughout the New York region. With a strong reputation, loyal customer base, and ambitious growth plans, the company is preparing for its next phase of expansion and is seeking a strategic, hands-on Chief Financial Officer to join its executive leadership team.

This is a highly visible role where the CFO will serve as a true business partner to the CEO and senior leadership team, helping drive operational excellence, improve profitability, and support long-term growth initiatives.

Position Overview

The Chief Financial Officer will provide both strategic financial leadership and day-to-day operational support across the organization. This individual will translate financial data into actionable business insights, strengthen financial processes, improve reporting, and partner closely with operations to enhance overall company performance.

This role requires an executive who enjoys being involved in the business, working collaboratively across departments, and helping build scalable processes while preserving a strong, people-focused culture.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute the company's financial strategy to support continued growth.
• Partner with executive leadership to improve profitability and operational performance.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, and long-range planning.
• Deliver meaningful financial analysis that supports business decisions.
• Evaluate capital investments and major business initiatives.
• Strengthen internal controls, financial reporting, and compliance.
• Improve KPI reporting, dashboards, and performance metrics.
• Lead contract negotiations and oversee major vendor relationships.
• Mentor and develop the finance and accounting team.
• Build strong relationships with operations and other functional leaders.

Qualifications

Required

• 10 years of progressive finance leadership experience.
• Current or previous CFO, VP of Finance, Corporate Controller, or similar senior finance executive.
• Strong background within retail or other multi-location consumer businesses.
• Demonstrated success leading budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, and business analytics.
• Experience partnering closely with operational leadership.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills.

Preferred

• Experience supporting privately held or family-owned businesses.
• Strong financial modeling and advanced Excel skills.
• Experience implementing process improvements and scalable financial infrastructure.
