We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) to join our dynamic dental team. Responsibilities
- Assist the dentist during a wide range of dental procedures including restorations, extractions, endodontic treatments, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry
- Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and materials, ensuring all equipment is sterilized and organized according to aseptic techniques
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays), including digital imaging and 3D scans using advanced imaging technology
- Manage patient records accurately within Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems such as Open Dental, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations for patient privacy and confidentiality
- Perform vital signs assessments and monitor patient comfort throughout procedures
- Provide chairside assistance by handing instruments, managing suction devices, and supporting the dentist with medical imaging procedures
- Maintain infection control standards by adhering to OSHA guidelines and proper sterilization protocols
- Educate patients on oral health care instructions and post-treatment care instructions using clear dental terminology
- Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments with the dental receptionist, verifying insurance information, and updating medical documentation
- Assist in medical documentation and coding for billing purposes using medical terminology and coding systems like medical records management tools
- Ensure all clinical areas are clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards at all times
Requirements
- Valid state licensure as a Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) or equivalent certification
- Proven experience in general dentistry; experience in pediatric dentistry or specialized fields like prosthodontics or endodontics is preferred
- Proficiency with EMR systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft or Open Dental
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, aseptic techniques, and medical terminology
- Ability to operate dental equipment including X-ray machines, 3D scanners, and other imaging devices confidently
- Experience with chairside assisting in a fast-paced clinical setting; familiarity with four-handed dentistry techniques highly desirable
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations related to patient privacy and data security
- Excellent communication skills to effectively educate patients of all ages including pediatrics about their oral health needs
- Ability to perform vital signs assessment and assist with medical imaging procedures accurately
- Strong organizational skills for managing medical records, documentation, and appointment scheduling
