The Opportunity:
The Buyer position is responsible for purchasing and managing inventory for our business. The Buyer should be analytically minded and according to the budget. Knowledge of sales and marketing principles is advantageous. This position is located at our corporate office in Northbrook, Illinois. This is not a remote position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inventory Management and purchase within an open to buy model
- Purchase products based on sales forecasts and current company needs.
- Build relationships with suppliers.
- Process purchase orders and update management on the status of orders.
- Update inventory and ensure that stock levels are kept at appropriate levels.
- Arrange transport of goods and track orders to ensure timely delivery.
- Analyze market trends and apply this knowledge to make insightful buying decisions.
- Coordinate with various departments including the sales team, management, and the warehouse as required.
- Assess quality of stock received and escalate any discrepancies to suppliers and management.
- KIT breakup analysis and special orders (i.e. mannequin heads)
- Office supplies and beverage orders. (CSS Or Buyer)
- Activation and setup of new and existing SKUs
- Assist with special projects as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in business management, retail merchandising, or another relevant field.
- Previous buyer experience required.
- Experience with inventory management and purchasing to a budget.
- Excellent computer skills (Excel, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint).
- Proficient in appropriate software.
- Critical thinking and negotiation skills.
- Attention to detail a must have.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
