Duties
- Install, splice, and test fiber optic cables in various environments, including underground, aerial, and indoor settings.
- Operate heavy equipment such as bucket trucks and power tools safely to access difficult-to-reach locations.
- Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams to guide installation and troubleshooting processes.
- Use diagnostic tools to identify network issues and perform engineering troubleshooting to resolve complex problems efficiently.
- Maintain compliance with the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC) and adhere to low voltage electrical safety standards during all operations.
- Conduct cabling work for telecommunication systems, including LAN (Local Area Network), Ethernet, WAN (Wide Area Network), and telephony infrastructure.
- Climb poles or structures safely while following safety protocols; utilize hand tools and climbing gear effectively.
- Support technical troubleshooting for IT infrastructure, network connectivity issues, and electrical systems within the telecommunication network.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in field service operations within telecommunications or related construction environments.
- Strong knowledge of fiber splicing techniques and cabling practices aligned with industry standards.
- Familiarity with telecommunication systems, computer networking concepts including LAN, Ethernet, WAN, and telephony.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and engineering plans accurately.
- Hands-on experience operating heavy equipment such as bucket trucks and power tools safely.
- Electrical experience with low voltage systems and understanding of the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC).
- Skilled in using diagnostic tools for network testing and troubleshooting support.
- Construction experience combined with excellent climbing skills for working at heights on poles or towers.
- Technical proficiency in troubleshooting complex network infrastructure issues with a focus on engineering solutions.
