- Greet patients and visitors warmly, providing excellent customer service with professional phone etiquette and a friendly demeanor
- Schedule patient appointments accurately using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Epic, Meditech, or Athenahealth
- Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance verification, and handle medical billing processes including collections and CPT coding
- Manage patient records by filing, updating, and reviewing medical documentation in various EHR (Electronic Health Record) systems
- Assist with intake procedures, including collecting patient information, updating medical histories, and explaining clinic policies
- Handle multi-line phone systems efficiently, directing calls appropriately and managing appointment changes or cancellations
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations by safeguarding patient information and reviewing documentation for accuracy
- Process payments for copays and deductibles
- Proven experience in a medical office setting or healthcare environment with strong clerical skills
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such Practice Fusion
- Knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-9/ICD-10 coding, CPT coding, and insurance billing processes including Medicare procedures
- Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and 10-key typing for data entry tasks
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting
- Exceptional communication skills with a focus on patient service and office management
