A day in the role- Scan ERP/MRP insights each morning to forecast material needs and balance inventory levels so shortages never slow production.
- Evaluate and qualify new and existing suppliers against performance, quality, and cost targets.
- Negotiate contracts and pricing to secure favorable commercial terms and reliable lead times.
- Partner with production and engineering to translate drawings and material specifications into clear purchase requirements.
- Keep meticulous records of purchases, pricing history, contracts, and supplier KPIs.
- Research the market to track industry trends and pricing fluctuations that impact cost and availability.
- Triage supplier performance and material quality issues quickly, driving corrective action.
- Cultivate resilient vendor relationships that improve service, quality, and responsiveness.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or related field preferred.
- Hands-on purchasing/procurement experience in a manufacturing setting.
- Negotiation finesse and the ability to build strong supplier rapport.
- Sharp analytical and problem-solving mindset.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and purchasing software.
- Organized, detail-focused, and able to manage multiple priorities.
- Comfort working independently and collaborating across teams.
- Clear, effective written and verbal communication.
