Senior Quality Inspector
Position Summary
Preferred Powder Coating is seeking an experienced quality professional to lead our quality efforts on the production floor while serving as a trusted resource for our customers. This role combines hands-on inspection, customer communication, employee training, and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will build strong customer relationships, educate employees on quality standards, investigate quality concerns, and know when to advocate for the customer versus when to take ownership and drive corrective action.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect in-process and finished parts to ensure compliance with customer specifications and quality standards.
- Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, prints, and specification sheets.
- Serve as the primary quality contact for customers by responding to quality concerns professionally and promptly.
- Build positive customer relationships by setting quality expectations and educating customers on industry standards.
- Lead investigations into customer complaints, RMAs, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
- Train and coach employees on quality standards, inspection methods, and workmanship. Foster a culture where quality is everyone's responsibility.
- Perform paint quality testing using equipment such as paint thickness gauges, spectrophotometers, adhesion testers, and other inspection tools.
- Quarantine and document nonconforming products and assist with rework and disposition decisions.
- Support ISO 9001:2015 compliance, audits, documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Assist production as needed with hanging, masking, plugging, packaging, and other shop support tasks.
Qualifications
- 5 years of manufacturing quality experience (powder coating, painting, or metal fabrication preferred).
- Strong customer service and communication skills with the confidence to handle difficult conversations professionally.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering prints, and customer specification sheets.
- Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis skills.
- Experience with measuring and inspection equipment.
- Working knowledge of ISO 9001 and ability to be a certified auditor.
- Must be able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
- Must be able to work in a warm manufacturing environment and spend the majority of the day on the production floor.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is strongly preferred.

You'll spend most of your day on the production floor working alongside employees, training, inspecting parts, solving problems, and interacting with customers to ensure quality expectations are met
Pay: $25.00 - $27.00 per hour
