What are the responsibilities and job description for the Optical Lab Team Lead - AR Department position at Precision Optical Group?
Precision Optical Group | Creston, Iowa
Full-Time | Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM–4:30 PM
$16.50–$20.00 per hour, based on experience
Are you the person everyone depends on at work?
You know the type—the person who shows up, figures things out, notices when something isn't right, and takes care of it without needing to be asked three times.
That's who we're looking for.
Precision Optical Group is looking for a dependable, motivated person to join our Anti-Reflective (AR) Lab and grow into a leadership role within the department.
You do not need optical lab experience to be considered. We can teach you how lenses and AR coatings work. What we're looking for is harder to teach: reliability, initiative, attention to detail, good judgment, and the willingness to take ownership of an area.
What You'll Do
You'll learn the AR coating process from the ground up while becoming someone the department can rely on. Your responsibilities will include:
- Learning and performing the processes involved in applying anti-reflective coatings to prescription lenses
- Helping organize and prioritize daily production
- Monitoring jobs as they move through the department
- Identifying quality issues and helping determine what went wrong
- Keeping equipment, work areas, and processes organized
- Helping make sure work is completed accurately and on time
- Communicating with other departments when problems or delays arise
- Helping train and support other AR Lab employees
- Taking increasing responsibility for the department as your knowledge grows
- Looking for ways to improve workflow, quality, organization, and efficiency
Who We're Looking For
We're less concerned about what industry you come from and more interested in how you work.
You may be a great fit if:
- People describe you as extremely dependable
- You take pride in doing things correctly
- You naturally take ownership instead of saying, "That's not my job"
- You're comfortable holding yourself and others accountable
- You notice problems and try to solve them
- You can stay organized when there are multiple priorities
- You're willing to learn technical processes and equipment
- You're comfortable working independently but also know how to work with a team
- You're interested in becoming a go-to person within a department
Experience in manufacturing, production, machine operation, quality control, team leadership, optical, or another technical environment is helpful, but it is not required.
This Probably Isn't the Right Job If...
We're looking for someone who wants responsibility. This position probably isn't a good fit if you're looking for a job where you can simply clock in, wait to be told what to do, and clock out.
We want someone who wants to learn the department, understand why things work the way they do, and eventually be trusted to help keep it running successfully.
