Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Press Brake Operator to join our dynamic manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining press brake machines to accurately bend and shape sheet metal components according to detailed blueprints and specifications. Your expertise will ensure that precision is maintained throughout the fabrication process, contributing to the production of high-quality metal parts used across various industries. Duties
- Set up and operate press brake machines, ensuring proper tooling and calibration for each job.
- Read and interpret detailed blueprints, technical drawings, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) specifications to produce precise bends.
- Use precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges to verify dimensions and quality standards.
- Program CNC (Computer Numerical Control) press brakes for complex bending operations, optimizing machine performance.
- Conduct routine maintenance on press brake equipment, troubleshooting issues promptly to minimize downtime.
- Collaborate with fabrication teams to ensure sheet metal components meet quality standards through inspection and testing.
- Utilize hand tools, tooling, cranes, forklifts, and other machinery such as CNC laser cutters, plasma cutters, CNC lathes, milling machines, stamping presses, and electrical discharge machining tools as needed for fabrication tasks.
- Follow safety protocols diligently while operating machinery like cranes and forklifts in a manufacturing environment.
- Assist in assembly processes when required, ensuring parts are correctly fitted and finished per specifications.
Experience
- At least 3 years experience operating press brake machines in a manufacturing or fabrication setting.
- Strong mechanical knowledge of sheet metal fabrication processes and tooling setups.
- Familiarity with CNC programming for bending operations and other machining equipment such as CNC laser cutting, CNC milling machines, CNC lathe, plasma cutting systems, electrical discharge machining (EDM), and stamping presses.
- Ability to read complex blueprints and interpret GD&T standards accurately.
- Skilled in using precision measuring instruments including micrometers, calipers, gauges, and other quality inspection tools.
- Basic math skills for measurements and calculations related to fabrication tasks.
- Experience working with hand tools, fabrication equipment, cranes or forklifts for material handling.
