Job Summary
Precision Garage Door Service is looking for a motivated Garage Door Installer Trainee to join our Mobile team.
This is an entry-level, hands-on training position for someone interested in learning a skilled trade. Previous garage door experience is not required. The trainee will work alongside an experienced installer in the field, learning residential garage door installation, proper use of tools and equipment, jobsite safety, customer service, and company procedures.
Training is hands-on and proficiency-based. There is no predetermined training completion date. The goal is to develop the knowledge, skills, and ability necessary to eventually perform garage door installation work independently as business needs and individual readiness allow.
What You'll Learn and Do
- Ride and work alongside an experienced residential garage door installer
- Assist with residential garage door and garage door opener installations
- Learn proper installation techniques for doors, tracks, springs, cables, openers, and related components
- Learn to safely use common hand tools, power tools, ladders, and installation equipment
- Assist with loading, unloading, handling, and organizing doors, parts, materials, and tools
- Help maintain a clean, safe, and organized jobsite
- Learn company safety procedures and proper jobsite practices
- Assist with job documentation and required company processes
- Interact professionally with customers and coworkers
- Participate in required training, safety meetings, and team meetings
- Take on additional installation responsibilities as skills and proficiency develop

Physical Requirements
This position involves active field work and may require standing, walking, bending, kneeling, reaching, gripping, climbing, and overhead work. Employees may be required to lift, carry, push, or pull materials weighing up to 80 pounds using appropriate lifting techniques and assistance when necessary. Work may also involve ladders and indoor and outdoor jobsite conditions.
Training and Advancement
This position begins at $15.00 per hour during the training period.
Training takes place primarily through hands-on work alongside an experienced installer. The length of training will vary depending on individual progress, demonstrated proficiency, safety, attendance, and business needs. Advancement to an independent installer position is not based on a predetermined timeframe and is not guaranteed.
