Responsibilities
- Provide attentive dog handling, ensuring each animal’s safety and comfort through proper animal restraint and care techniques
- Assist with dog activities to promote good behavior and socialization
- Perform pet grooming tasks such as bathing, and brushing to keep dogs clean and healthy
- Maintain the cleanliness of kennels, play areas, and common spaces to uphold hygiene standards
- Support pet boarding duties by feeding, walking, and engaging dogs in stimulating activities throughout their stay
- Handle heavy lifting when necessary to transport supplies, bedding, or animals safely within the facility
Schedule & Availability Requirements
- Average approximately 20 hours per week
- Shifts are generally 4 to 5 hours in length
- Open availability is required
- Must be available to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
Physical Requirements
This is a physically demanding position. Applicants must be able to:
- Lift and move at least 50 pounds safely
- Walk approximately 3 to 4 miles during a shift
- Stand and remain physically active for the entirety of the shift
- Bend, kneel, squat, and move quickly when handling dogs
- Work in indoor and outdoor environments in varying weather conditions
Qualifications
- Prior experience with animal handling, kennel work, or pet care is highly preferred
- Knowledge of dog training techniques and veterinary procedures is a strong asset
- Experience working as a veterinary technician or veterinary assistant is beneficial
- Ability to perform pet grooming and basic pet sitting tasks effectively
- Strong customer service skills to communicate confidently with pet owners and team members
- Physical stamina for heavy lifting and standing for extended periods
- Passion for animal welfare with a positive attitude and attention to detail
