Job Description
Mechanical Test Technician
Shift: B 3:00pm - 11:00pm
Summary
The position is accountable for laboratory operations including heat treating, tensile testing, stress rupture testing, and creep testing of final product. The goal is to provide proper and accurate testing in a timely manner to meet delivery requirements.
Responsibilities
Prepare incoming material for subsequent heat-treating, machining and testing operations by performing appropriate rolling, cutting and labeling.
Schedule and perform heat treatment of specimens.
Perform hardness, tensile, stress rupture, and creep testing. This includes measurement of pre-test and after-test parameters, test setup, conducting of test, collection and recording of data, calculation of results, and logging of data into computer systems where applicable.
Fabricate thermocouples.
Maintain an orderly sample morgue area.
Interface with employees of other departments relative to questions on sample status and test results.
Perform laboratory maintenance including troubleshooting, minor equipment maintenance, laboratory housekeeping.
Assist in performing lower-level responsibilities of a Metallographic Test Technician including performing all sample preparations including cutting, mounting grinding, polishing, morguing of test samples, heat treating and laboratory housekeeping.
Preferred qualifications/experience
Associate’s degree in related field or equivalent experience.
Basic knowledge of mechanics, electricity, and computers.
Desired Skills
Ability and experience in the use of basic precision measuring tools (micrometers/verniers, etc)
Ability and experience in the use of electronic measuring tools (potentiometer/volt meters, etc)
Ability to perform required record keeping
Work safely following all safety procedures.

For informational purposes only, the range of pay for this role is $26.00 to $26.00 US Dollar (USD) Hourly based on a variety of factors. For informational purposes only, this role is eligible to participate in the Company’s Quarterly Cash Bonus Plan, paid out at the quarterly bonus factor of 1X the Company’s bonus multiple, based on the Company’s performance in the applicable quarter. Employees will receive 40 hours paid time off every year. Employees will also receive 10 paid holidays. Employees (and their families) are eligible to participate in the company's medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees are eligible to enroll in the Company’s 401(k) plan.
This position requires use of information or access to production processes subject to national security controls under U.S. export control laws and regulations (including, but not limited to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the Export Administration Regulations (EAR)).
