What are the responsibilities and job description for the CNC Grind Machinist position at Precision Aerospace Corp.?
This role is responsible for precision grinding of aerospace components using internal diameter (ID), outside diameter (OD), and surface grinding equipment. The ideal candidate will have experience with one or more precision grinding processes and the ability to hold tight tolerances. We value versatile machinists and provide cross-training opportunities to expand your expertise across all grinding operations. Once transitioned to B Shift, employees receive a $2.00/hour shift premium.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up, operate, and adjust ID, OD, and surface grinding machines to produce precision aerospace components.
- Read and interpret complex aerospace blueprints, work orders, and geometric dimensioning & tolerancing (GD&T).
- Grind components to exact specifications while maintaining tight tolerances (typically ±.0001") and required surface finishes.
- Perform precision measurements using micrometers, bore gauges, dial indicators, height gauges, and other precision inspection equipment.
- Monitor machine operations, identify wheel wear, and make necessary adjustments to maintain quality and efficiency.
- Perform routine machine maintenance, dressing, and balancing of grinding wheels.
- Cross-train on additional grinding equipment and support other grinding operations as production needs require.
- Maintain part quality and consistency while meeting production goals.
- Follow all aerospace quality standards, procedures, and safety requirements.
Qualifications
- Proven experience operating ID, OD, and/or surface grinding equipment in a precision manufacturing environment.
- Ability to hold close tolerances and produce high-quality precision-ground components.
- Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T.
- Skilled in using precision measuring and inspection equipment.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Experience in aerospace manufacturing is preferred but not required.
