CONTEXT: Our client, a leading provider of drilling services, is seeking a skilled and experienced Service Technician to join their team. This role is responsible for supporting operations by maintaining and repairing critical equipment on drilling rigs and related systems at remote locations. The technician will work in challenging weather conditions and demanding schedules, requiring mechanical expertise and a strong safety focus to ensure optimal functionality and operational continuity on the drilling site.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on drilling rigs and associated support equipment.
- Execute preventative maintenance checks to identify potential issues and prevent mechanical breakdowns.
- Inspect and test mechanical components for proper operation and performance.
- Diagnose system malfunctions, including electrical and mechanical issues, in a field environment.
- Repair or replace faulty components, such as bearings, belts, and hydraulic parts.
- Identify and address potential safety hazards related to rig equipment and operations.
- Ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations while performing field repairs.
- Work in remote locations and adapt to challenging weather conditions and rig configurations.
- Follow all safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Collaborate with drilling crew members to identify and address technical concerns promptly.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a technician within an industrial or field service environment.
- Must have direct experience working on drilling rigs or with heavy equipment in the drilling sector.
- Proven ability to diagnose mechanical issues, troubleshoot complex systems, and perform effective repairs.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment to assess mechanical performance.
- Strong commitment to safety protocols and procedures in a demanding work environment.
- Understanding of confined space entry procedures and safety regulations.
- Ability to work in confined spaces, climb ladders, and lift heavy equipment.
- Willingness to work extended hours and on-call shifts as needed.
