What are the responsibilities and job description for the Safety Manager position at Pratt Retail Specialties - Production Facilities?
The position of Safety Manager will be assisting the Divisional Safety Manger in the plant location and will be the local representative of the safety department.
**DUTIES
**
- Work safely at all times, be aware of surroundings and understand and comply with Pratt Industries Safety rules, operating procedures, and help hold co-workers responsible for safety related items. Participate in Plant Safety Committee.
- Follow at all times GMPs (Good Manufacturing Processes)
- Conduct Safety/Accident Investigations when necessary
- Help nurture a “Culture of Safety” in the Plant location
- Responsibility for site Safety/Surveillance video footage
- Superior time management skills and must be self driven and self motivated.
- Must have outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail is must.
- Ability to solve practical problems: ability to interpret verbal and written instructions.
- Multi-tasking; ability to work with various challenges and deal with a variety of situations
- Ability to read, comprehend and interpret operating instructions, training and procedure manuals.
- Excellent communication skills; able to speak effectively to employees, managers, customers
- Excellent listening skills; ability to provide positive and corrective feedback
- Ability to perform safety audits
- Management and control of documents (safety, training)
- Responsible for PAR (Preventive Acton Reports)
- Additional duties may be assigned by management.

**REQUIREMENTS
**
- College degree in manufacturing, engineering, logistics or equivalent work experience
- Experience in a variety of manufacturing areas (production, logistics)
- 3-5 years’ experience in Safety management or mfg/corrugated leadership preferred
- Competent with MS Office
**MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
**
Able to read a tape measure with speed and accuracy. Able to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, measurement, volume and rate. Able to apply concepts of high school math.
**REASONING ABILITY
**
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
**PHYSICAL DEMANDS
**
Employee is regularly required to walk and talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. **WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, and fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
