What are the responsibilities and job description for the Control Room Operator position at Pratt Industries?
As a Control Room Operator, you’ll play a vital role in keeping our corrugator production lines running smoothly and accurately. You’ll manage the setup, operation, and monitoring of the slitter/scorer and related systems to ensure every order meets quality, safety, and efficiency standards. Your attention to detail and technical skill will help deliver high-quality board that meets customer expectations.
Shift: 2nd Shift (5:00 PM – 5:00 AM) — Must be available for overtime and occasional weekend work as needed
What You’ll Do
- Set up, operate, and monitor the slitter/scorer, including order changes, score settings, speed, sheet counts, and stack height.
- Verify order accuracy by cross-checking computer displays, dry end lineup, and scheduling data.
- Inspect board quality throughout production, checking for issues like cracked scores, loose edges, wrinkles, warps, and coating accuracy.
- Perform quality tests, such as soak tests, and ensure slit and score depth meet requirements.
- Set up tear-tape machine and preprint as needed.
- Communicate with the wet end team to ensure adjustments are made when necessary.
- Safely clear jams, address issues, and submit work orders for needed repairs.
- Assist with training new dry end personnel.
- Follow production schedules and recommend adjustments to optimize quality, cost, and service.
- Maintain housekeeping and comply with all safety standards.

What to Expect on the Job
- You’ll be on your feet for most of you shift. This includes standing, walking, bending, kneeling and regularly or moving up to 40 pounds
- You will work near moving mechanical parts and in an environment where noise, vibration, and airborne particles are common
- The facility is not climate controlled, which means it can be very hot in the summer and cold in the winter
- Personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hearing protection, protective footwear, and safety glasses must be worn at all times
