Prairie Point Elementary is seeking a passionate and skilled Special Education Teacher to join our growing STARS (Students with Autism Reaching Success) program. This role offers a meaningful opportunity to provide individualized, structured, and supportive education for students with autism in a self-contained classroom setting.
What You'll Do:
- Develop and implement IEP-driven instruction tailored to students with autism and related needs
- Create a structured, supportive classroom environment grounded in evidence-based practices
- Collaborate with paraprofessionals, related service providers, and families to support student success
- Utilize strategies such as visual supports, assistive communication tools, and behavior intervention plans
- Provide academic instruction aligned to students' individualized goals
- Track and report student progress toward IEP goals and objectives
- Maintain compliance with all state and district special education procedures
Who You Are:
- A certified Special Education teacher in Illinois (LBS1 endorsement required)
- Experienced in or passionate about working with students with autism
- Skilled in classroom management and creating a positive, structured environment
- A strong communicator and collaborator with a team-based mindset
- Flexible, patient, and committed to inclusive, student-centered learning
