This role is essential in providing safety, security, and rehabilitation of young offenders. The ideal candidate will be reliable, have excellent communication skills verbally and in writing and have a deep understanding of adolescent development. As a Youth Care Worker, you will play a vital role in enhancing the youth support through direct assistance and engagement.
Wages for these positions are based upon education/experience/position.
Summary of Responsibilities
- Provide direct supervision of youth in all indoor and outdoor environments.
- Engage with youth in meaningful ways that promote positive social interaction and skill development.
- Implement various programs to reinforce and build up the youths strengths.
- Maintain documentation through electronic record keeping. Communications skills are essential.
- Have a commitment to ethical standards and professional conduct.
- Maintain a safe and clean environment by performing safety checks cleaning duties as needed.
- Collaborate with probation officers, law enforcement, families, social workers, and other professionals to provide comprehensive care.
- Assist in transportation needs.
- Complete the required annual training including CPR & 1st Aid as well as Controlled Force Training.
- Assist in developing daily activities.
- Enforce rules and maintain order in the facility.
- Maintain absolute confidentiality of work related issues, records, and restricted information.
Required Qualifications
- Must have a high school diploma or GED
- Must be 21 years old or enrolled in or completed a post secondary education program.
- Must have a valid Driver's License.
- Must be able to pass a Background Study.
- Must have the capacity to work shifts including evenings, every other weekend and some holiday's
Skills & Qualifications
- Knowledge of adolescent behavior.
- Experience working with diverse populations.
- Familiarity with de-escalation techniques and trauma informed practices.
- Ability to respond to emergencies and crises.
- Strong observational skills.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $23.14 - $27.53 per hour
Expected hours: No more than 24 per week
