Job Summary
Perform hands-on quality assurance and control for mission-critical mechanical systems on fast-paced hyperscale data center projects. Ensure flawless installation, testing, and compliance of HVAC, chilled water, condenser water, CRAC/CRAH units, chillers, cooling towers, pumps, piping, valves, fire suppression, leak detection, and related infrastructure to meet ASHRAE, ASME, NFPA, SMACNA, IBC, and hyperscale owner standards—with zero tolerance for defects or rework.
Key Responsibilities
• Execute daily field inspections and verify mechanical installations (chillers, CRAH/CRAC units, cooling towers, pumps, piping systems, ductwork, insulation, valves, actuators, fire suppression, leak detection, and seismic bracing).
• Develop/review Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), checklists, and QA/QC procedures for all mechanical scopes.
• Witness and document Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), Site Acceptance Tests (SAT), hydrostatic/pneumatic pressure testing, flushing, chemical cleaning, airflow balancing, pump performance curves, chiller functional testing, and integrated systems testing.
• Identify, document, and resolve non-conformances (NCRs); verify corrective actions and close-outs.
• Prepare inspection logs, test reports, as-built documentation, and turnover packages for client/commissioning handover.
• Support commissioning and integrated systems testing (IST); interface with CxA, third-party TAB contractors, controls technicians, owners, and AHJs.
•Enforce safety protocols (LOTO, confined space, hot work, NFPA 70E where applicable) during mechanical work.
Qualifications:
Qualifications:
-
• 5 years mechanical QA/QC experience, with 3 years in mission-critical facilities (data centers preferred).
-
• Strong knowledge of hyperscale mechanical systems: large-scale chillers (≥500 tons), redundant cooling plants (2N/N 1), CRAH/CRAC, condenser water systems, high-density liquid cooling infrastructure, and precision airflow management.
-
• Proficiency in ASHRAE, ASME B31.1/B31.9, NFPA 13/14/20/25, SMACNA, pressure testing, TAB procedures, and leak detection methods.
-
• Detail-oriented with excellent documentation and communication skills.
-
• Proficient in MS Office; experience with Procore/Bluebeam a plus.
Preferred Skills
-
• Data center/hyperscale project experience (e.g., cloud/colocation campuses with high-density liquid cooling).
-
• Certifications: NEBB, AABC, NICET (Fire Protection), OSHA 30, or commissioning-related credentials.
-
• Familiarity with BMS/EPMS, DDC controls, and hyperscale redundancy & fault-tolerant requirements.
