Family Solutions Practice Management is currently hiring a skilled Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner to provide psychiatric evaluation, medication management, and collaborative behavioral health treatment at our outpatient counseling clinic in Monroe, Louisiana.

Family Solutions operates multidisciplinary outpatient behavioral health clinics staffed by licensed counselors, social workers, marriage and family therapists, psychiatric providers, and other professionals working together to provide coordinated care to children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families.

This position is ideal for a psychiatric nurse practitioner who values collaborative care, enjoys working as part of a multidisciplinary treatment team, and is interested in developing ongoing relationships with an established outpatient behavioral health population.

Services will primarily be provided on-site at our Monroe & Ruston Counseling Clinics, with telepsychiatry services incorporated when clinically and operationally appropriate.

This is a part time position, with opportunity to grow into a full time position.

Job Summary

The Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner is responsible for providing psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, medication management, and ongoing psychiatric care to patients receiving counseling services through Family Solutions.

The PMHNP will work closely with licensed professional counselors, licensed clinical social workers, licensed marriage and family therapists, clinical leadership, collaborating psychiatric providers, and administrative staff to coordinate treatment and promote continuity of care.

The majority of the position will be dedicated to direct psychiatric services, with appropriate time provided for clinical documentation, care coordination, consultation, and collaboration with other members of the treatment team.

Certification and Licensure

Applicants must:

• Hold a current and unrestricted Louisiana Advanced Practice Registered Nurse license.
• Hold current certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.
• Maintain all state and national certifications required for advanced psychiatric nursing practice.
• Maintain appropriate prescriptive authority in accordance with Louisiana law.
• Maintain current DEA registration when required for prescribing responsibilities.
• Maintain all continuing education and professional requirements necessary to remain in good standing with applicable licensing and certification bodies.

Education and Experience

• Master of Science in Nursing or higher degree from an accredited nurse practitioner program is required.
• Graduate preparation and national certification in psychiatric/mental health nursing practice are required.
• Previous experience providing psychiatric assessment and medication management in an outpatient, psychiatric, behavioral health, or primary care setting is preferred.
• Two or more years of psychiatric treatment experience is preferred but not required.
• Experience providing psychiatric services to children, adolescents, and adults is preferred.
• Experience working within a multidisciplinary behavioral health treatment model is highly valued.

Essential Functions, Responsibilities, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Provide psychiatric treatment services within the scope of practice established by the Louisiana Board of Nursing and other applicable regulatory authorities.
• Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, including review of presenting concerns, psychiatric history, medical history, medications, psychosocial factors, substance use, risk factors, and other clinically relevant information.
• Formulate psychiatric diagnoses and differential diagnoses based upon clinical findings and accepted standards of psychiatric practice.
• Develop individualized psychiatric treatment plans based upon assessment findings, patient needs, clinical judgment, and current standards of care.
• Provide ongoing medication management, including initiation, adjustment, monitoring, continuation, and discontinuation of psychiatric medications when clinically indicated.
• Prescribe pharmaceutical treatment consistent with the patient's evaluation, diagnosis, treatment plan, applicable regulations, and current standards of practice.
• Order and review appropriate laboratory testing, diagnostic testing, and other clinical information necessary to support safe psychiatric treatment.
• Monitor treatment response, medication effectiveness, medication adherence, side effects, contraindications, and other relevant clinical considerations.
• Identify patients requiring a higher level of care and make appropriate referrals for emergency psychiatric services, hospitalization, specialty consultation, substance use treatment, or other clinical resources when indicated.
• Assess patients for suicide risk, homicidal risk, psychosis, acute psychiatric deterioration, and other urgent behavioral health concerns, and initiate appropriate interventions when necessary.
• Collaborate regularly with counselors, therapists, social workers, psychologists, psychiatric providers, primary care providers, and other members of the patient's treatment team.
• Provide psychiatric consultation to Family Solutions clinical staff regarding patients who may benefit from further psychiatric evaluation or medication management.
• Participate in a team-based approach to treatment planning and continuity of care.
• Communicate clinical recommendations clearly and professionally to patients, families when appropriate, referring clinicians, and other treatment providers.
• Work collaboratively with referring clinicians when additional clinical information or clarification is needed prior to or following a psychiatric evaluation.
• Maintain accurate, complete, and timely clinical documentation for all services provided.
• Complete treatment plans, progress notes, medication documentation, orders, and other required records in accordance with organizational policies, payer requirements, professional standards, and applicable laws.
• Ensure documentation contains all information necessary to support continuity of care and appropriate billing for services rendered.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and protect health information in accordance with HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2 when applicable, and Family Solutions privacy and security policies.
• Participate in peer review, quality assurance, quality improvement, policy development, and other clinical initiatives designed to improve patient care.
• Participate in clinical consultation and collaboration with psychiatric leadership and collaborating physicians as required by law, organizational policy, or clinical need.
• Participate in staff meetings, clinical meetings, training activities, and other organizational initiatives as appropriate.
• Demonstrate strong clinical judgment and the ability to practice effectively with an appropriate level of autonomy.
• Demonstrate critical thinking, problem-solving, conflict resolution, and sound clinical decision-making.
• Communicate effectively and professionally with patients, families, colleagues, referral sources, administrative staff, and community providers.
• Effectively utilize electronic health records, electronic prescribing systems, telehealth platforms, email, messaging systems, and other workplace technology.
• Work collaboratively with Family Solutions staff and leadership to identify opportunities to improve patient care, patient experience, clinical workflow, communication, efficiency, and overall quality of services.
• Initiate and respond to communication with treatment team members and leadership in a timely, professional, and transparent manner.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Compensation and Benefits

Family Solutions is primarily looking for part-time candidates for this position.

Compensation is competitive and will be based upon experience, qualifications, schedule, and the structure of the position.
