Job Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Med Surg Registered Nurse (RN) Flex Nurse to join our dedicated healthcare team in Vermont. Duties

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients with diverse medical conditions in inpatient and outpatient settings, including post-operative recovery, chronic disease management, and acute illness treatment.
• Perform thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and detailed health histories to inform individualized care plans.
• Administer medications and treatments accurately, including IV infusions, injections, wound suturing, and medication reconciliation.
• Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner to document patient information meticulously and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations.
• Assist with diagnostic procedures such as cardiac catheterization, laboratory specimen collection, and imaging studies like sonography or radiology reports.
• Implement aseptic techniques during procedures like catheter care, phlebotomy, and sterile dressing changes to prevent infections.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams—including physicians specializing in emergency medicine, critical care, geriatrics, or pediatrics—to coordinate patient care plans effectively.
• Engage in triage activities for urgent cases and manage acute pain or trauma cases within a Level I or Level II trauma center environment.
• Support discharge planning and patient education initiatives to promote recovery at home or in long-term care facilities such as nursing homes or assisted living communities.
• Demonstrate proficiency in advanced skills such as ventilator management, dialysis support, ostomy care, and wound suturing when required.

Requirements

• Valid RN license from the state of Vermont or eligible for licensure transfer.
• Proven experience working in medical-surgical units with exposure to ICU or emergency room environments preferred.
• Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, pharmacology, and medical terminology relevant to adult and geriatric patients.
• Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner; experience with Athenahealth or eClinicalWorks is a plus.
• Ability to perform complex patient assessments and respond swiftly to critical situations using critical care response procedures.
• Experience working with individuals with disabilities or developmental delays is highly desirable.
• Certifications including Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) are required.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to educate patients on medication administration, wound care, pain management strategies, and post-discharge instructions.
• Knowledge of Workers' Compensation law related to occupational injuries is advantageous for supporting injured workers’ recovery processes.

Pay: $2,450.00 - $2,750.00 per week
