What We're Looking For

We're seeking an enthusiastic Pottery Wheel & Handbuilding Instructor who is confident in ceramics while creating a welcoming, encouraging environment for beginners and experienced students alike.

The ideal instructor understands that the goal isn't making the perfect pot. The goal is helping each guest create something they're proud of while having an incredible experience.

  • Intermediate to advanced pottery wheel throwing skills
  • Experience with handbuilding techniques
  • Ability to demonstrate pottery techniques clearly and confidently
  • Friendly, outgoing personality with excellent communication skills

  • Patient coaching style that builds confidence instead of taking over projects
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Self-motivated and able to manage responsibilities independently
  • Ability to lift and move ware boards and 50 lb boxes of clay
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and work in a fast-paced studio environment

What You'll DoCreate Outstanding Class Experiences

Lead pottery wheel and handbuilding classes that are engaging, educational, and fun.

You'll:

  • Prepare the classroom and materials before each class
  • Demonstrate techniques in a way beginners can easily understand
  • Coach students individually while allowing them to do the work themselves
  • Adapt your teaching style to different ages, abilities, and learning styles
  • Encourage creativity while helping students experience success
  • Keep classes running smoothly and on schedule
  • Clean and reset the classroom between sessions

Our instructors demonstrate, encourage, and coach. We do not create the student's project for them. Every guest should leave feeling proud that they made their own piece.

Between classes you'll help ensure every student's work is handled carefully and processed efficiently.

Responsibilities include:

  • Labeling and organizing student projects
  • Following studio procedures for drying, shelving, glazing, and firing
  • Maintaining accurate organization so every piece is accounted for
  • Meeting production timelines while maintaining quality standards

Support the Clay Studio

When not teaching, instructors help maintain the high standards our guests expect.

This may include:

  • Cleaning wheels, tools, workstations, and common areas
  • Recycling clay
  • Organizing supplies
  • Loading and unloading kilns (training provided)
  • Assisting with studio projects and daily operations

  • Build confidence in every student.
  • Look for opportunities to invite guests back for future classes, workshops, memberships, and events.
  • Take ownership of the classroom and contribute to the success of the entire Clay Corner.

We provide comprehensive training on our studio procedures, guest experience standards, pottery processing systems, and teaching expectations.
