Responsibilities
- Provide peer-led support, guidance, and encouragement to individuals experiencing mental health or addiction challenges
- Utilize crisis intervention and crisis management techniques to de-escalate situations and ensure safety for clients and staff
- Employ motivational interviewing strategies to foster motivation for change and reinforce positive behaviors
- Assist clients in developing coping skills, goal setting, and connecting with appropriate behavioral health resources
- Document interactions accurately using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems while maintaining confidentiality and compliance with privacy regulations
- Collaborate with clinical teams, social workers, and other professionals to coordinate care plans and support client progress
- Mentor clients through recovery processes, sharing personal experiences when appropriate to inspire hope and resilience
Skills
- Strong understanding of behavioral health principles and mental health counseling techniques
- Experience in crisis intervention and crisis management with the ability to remain calm under pressure
- Knowledge of addiction counseling, social work practices, and motivational interviewing methods
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to build trusting relationships with diverse populations
- Proficiency in using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems for documentation and case tracking
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced environment
- Compassionate attitude combined with active listening skills and cultural sensitivity
