We are seeking a Project Manager – Tele Data to lead telecommunication infrastructure projects from start to finish. This role manages structured cabling, fiber networks, tele data systems, pathway installations, and related construction activities across commercial and utility environments.
You’ll be responsible for project planning, estimating, staffing, scheduling, safety, financial performance, customer satisfaction, and team development. This is a high-impact role ideal for a candidate with strong tele data experience and a passion for building teams and delivering high-quality projects.
Key Responsibilities
Project Planning & Pre-Construction
- Lead Tele data construction projects from initiation through closeout.
- Review drawings, riser diagrams, structured cabling plans, and scope documents to develop accurate project plans.
- Build project budgets, timelines, manpower schedules, material lists, and procurement strategies.
- Support estimating through takeoffs, pricing, proposals, and value-engineering suggestions.
- Prepare submittals, RFIs, project kickoff notes, safety documentation, and communication plans.
Field Execution & Leadership
- Oversee field crews and subcontractors performing fiber, copper, pathway, rack, cabinet, and telecom installations.
- Conduct regular site walks, safety inspections, and quality audits to ensure compliance with company, NEC, and TIA/EIA standards.
- Resolve field challenges quickly to maintain schedule and productivity.
- Coordinate project work with GCs, utility partners, and other trades.
- Ensure all materials are on site and available when needed to avoid delays.
Financial & Operational Management
- Maintain full responsibility for project financial performance, including: Labor productivity tracking, Cost Management, Forecasting, Billing and AR tracking and Profitability Analysis
- Manage billings, progress payments, and financial documentation and ensure timely collections.
- Achieve or exceed minimum budgeted net profit for each assigned project.
- Provide monthly financial reporting and forecasting updates to leadership.
Customer, Vendor & Stakeholder Engagement
- Serve as the main point of contact for customers, GCs, engineers, and vendors.
- Lead progress meetings, deliver project updates, and communicate schedule and scope changes.
- Ensure customer satisfaction and identify ways to expand customer relationships.
- Make decisions regarding manpower assignments and project prioritization.
- Support efforts to secure new work and strengthen long-term partnerships.
- Department Leadership & Team Development
- Coordinate day-to-day department activity and project resource planning.
- Mentor, coach, and support development of Tele data technicians and project staff.
- Promote a positive culture that values safety, teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Documentation & Project Closeout
- Maintain accurate records: submittals, RFIs, test results, labeling databases, redlines, as-builts, and turnover documentation.
- Oversee commissioning, punch lists, final inspections, and customer hand-off.
- Ensure all project deliverables are completed and closed out on time.
