Quoting Engineer

The Quoting Engineer is responsible for developing technically sound, commercially competitive, and timely quotations for customer opportunities across the business. This role serves as a critical interface between Commercial, Application Development, Product Management, Operations, Finance, and Product Development, translating customer requirements into clear technical solutions, cost estimates, pricing inputs, and execution assumptions. The Quoting Engineer will lead the technical development of quotes from initial customer requests through submission, ensuring that opportunities are evaluated with the appropriate level of technical rigor, commercial discipline, risk assessment, and speed. The role is critical to improving quote win rate, response time, quote quality, and margin protection. 

The Quoting Engineer reports to the Quoting Team Leader within Global Application Development and works closely with Commercial, Application Development, Product Management, Operations, Finance, and Product Development. The role is expected to evolve from quote preparation toward technical-commercial opportunity leadership, helping the organization make better decisions about which opportunities to pursue, how to win them, and how to protect expected value and margin. 

1.  Lead Quote Development 

• Review customer RFQs, specifications, statements of work, and project requirements. 

• Coordinate with Application Development, Engineering, Operations, Quality, and Commercial teams to gather and validate technical and commercial inputs. 

• Ensure customer requirements, assumptions, scope, deliverables, and timelines are clearly understood and documented. 

• Facilitate discussions to align stakeholders on proposed solutions, project requirements, and execution assumptions. 

• Identify gaps, dependencies, and risks that may affect cost, timing, feasibility, or profitability. 

• Develop clear scope statements, assumptions, and quotation documentation for customer proposals. 

2. Develop Cost and Pricing Inputs 

• Build and maintain detailed cost estimates covering materials, labor, tooling, equipment, development activities, testing, validation, and other project requirements. 

• Partner with Operations, Engineering, Procurement, Finance, and Application Development to validate assumptions and costing inputs. 

• Analyze cost drivers and identify opportunities to improve profitability and competitiveness. 

• Evaluate commercial implications of proposed solutions and project requirements. 

• Support pricing recommendations that align with margin objectives and business strategy. 

3. Improve Quote Win Rate and Competitiveness 

• Analyze historical quote performance, win/loss trends, and customer feedback to improve future quoting strategies. 

• Collaborate with Commercial, Application Development, and Engineering teams to develop competitive customer proposals. 

• Challenge assumptions and quoting approaches that create unnecessary cost, complexity, or risk. 

• Support development of alternative scenarios that balance customer requirements, competitiveness, profitability, and operational considerations. 

• Contribute to value-based pricing and differentiation strategies that improve win probability. 

4. Drive Cross-Functional Quote Execution 

• Coordinate quote activities across Commercial, Application Development, Engineering, Operations, Quality, Regulatory, Finance, Procurement, and other functional teams. 

• Establish quote timelines, milestones, responsibilities, and required deliverables. 

• Monitor progress and proactively resolve issues that could impact quote completion or submission dates. 

• Ensure all required inputs are complete, accurate, and aligned before quote submission. 

• Escalate significant commercial, operational, schedule, or business risks as appropriate. 

5. Manage Quote Quality and Governance 

• Ensure quotations follow established processes, tools, templates, approval workflows, and governance requirements. 

• Maintain accurate documentation of customer requirements, assumptions, costing, scope, and risks. 

• Coordinate review and approval processes based on project size, complexity, strategic importance, and risk profile. 

• Maintain quote and opportunity data within CRM, ERP, and other business systems. 

• Support standardization and continuous improvement of global quoting processes and tools. 

6. Support Continuous Improvement 

• Identify recurring issues and process inefficiencies within the quoting workflow. 

• Develop and maintain standardized costing models, quote templates, dashboards, and analytical tools. 

• Use quote performance data to improve speed, quality, competitiveness, accuracy, and profitability. 

• Support win/loss reviews and root-cause analysis of underperforming opportunities. 

• Share best practices and lessons learned across teams and regions. 

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, or a related technical discipline.  

• 10 years of experience in engineering, application development, manufacturing engineering, product development, estimating, quoting, or a related technical-commercial role.  

• Experience in injection molding and catheter assembly processes, preferably in a CDMO setting. 

• Strong ability to understand customer technical requirements and translate them into practical engineering and manufacturing solutions. 

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 

• Ability to work effectively across multiple functions and global teams. 

• Strong written and verbal communication skills. 

• Ability to manage multiple opportunities with competing priorities and deadlines. 

• US Citizenship required. 

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in medical devices, medical components, contract manufacturing, extrusion, or other precision manufacturing environments. 

• Experience with technical costing, estimating, or customer quotation development. 

• Understanding of manufacturing processes, tooling, materials, and quality/validation requirements. 

• Experience working with CRM, quoting, ERP, or project management systems. 

• Experience supporting customer-facing technical discussions. 

Salary : $110,000 - $120,000
