We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Payroll Administrator (Union) to join our dynamic team. Duties
Process weekly (or more frequent) payroll for multiple union entities.
· Interpret and apply collective bargaining agreements to payroll processing.
· Coordinate signatory process with all “away unions,” and enter pay rates / benefits into ERP / HRIS.
· Upkeep New Hire Onboarding / Termination processes on an ongoing basis.
· Manage non-union benefit elections for new hires, terminations, qualifying events, and open enrollments.
· Assist with storm-related tasks and expedited payrolls as required.
· Calculate wages, overtime, shift differentials, premiums, and retroactive pay adjustments.
· Maintain employee payroll records, union classifications, and wage rates.
· Process union dues, assessments, garnishments, and other payroll deductions / fringes.
· Administer benefit contributions, pension payments, and union trust fund reporting to EPR Live (or other remitting website).
· Audit timesheets, attendance records, and payroll transactions for accuracy.
· Research and resolve payroll discrepancies and employee inquiries.
· Generate payroll reports for management, accounting, auditors, and union representatives.
· Ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and union payroll requirements.
· Prepare, reconcile, and remit payroll-related tax filings and reports.
· Coordinate with HR regarding employee status changes, wage increases, leaves of absence, and terminations.
· Maintain confidentiality of employees and payroll information.
· Assist with year-end payroll processing, audits, and reporting requirements.
· Performs other job-related duties as assigned
Requirements
- Proven experience in payroll management within a unionized environment with a strong understanding of labor law compliance
- Proficiency in payroll systems such as Workday, ADP, Paychex, Kronos, UltiPro, Ceridian or similar platforms
- Solid knowledge of corporate accounting principles including double entry bookkeeping, debits & credits, general ledger reconciliation and journal entries
- Familiarity with HRIS (Human Resources Information Systems), time & attendance systems, and financial software like QuickBooks or similar tools
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets and ensure accuracy in payroll processing
- Excellent attention to detail combined with effective communication skills for cross-department collaboration
- Ability to handle confidential information responsibly while maintaining high levels of integrity
