Our client is seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to manage the weekly payroll process in a union construction environment. This role is heavily focused on union certified payroll, prevailing wage compliance, and payroll accuracy. The ideal candidate will also have an interest in supporting HR Generalist functions and the opportunity to take on additional HR responsibilities over time.
Responsibilities
- Process weekly payroll for approximately 60 employees.
- Prepare and submit certified payroll reports in compliance with prevailing wages
- Process union wages, fringe benefits, dues, and other payroll deductions.
- Review and reconcile employee timecards and resolve payroll discrepancies.
- Maintain accurate payroll records and assist with payroll audits.
- Provide support with HR activities such as onboarding, employee records, benefits administration, and other HR initiatives as needed, with opportunities to expand responsibilities over time.
Qualifications
- 4 years of payroll experience, preferably in the construction industry.
- Experience with Paylocity or similar payroll processing software
- Extensive experience processing union certified payroll is required.
- Experience supporting HR Generalist functions is preferred, or a desire to grow into a broader HR role.
- Strong knowledge of prevailing wage regulations, Davis-Bacon compliance, and union payroll.
- Proficiency with payroll software and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and communication skills.
