Position Summary
We are looking for a detail-oriented and dependable Accounts Payable (A/P) Clerk to join our Accounting team. The A/P Clerk will process and maintain vendor invoices, statements, and related accounting records with accuracy and confidentiality. This position plays a key role in ensuring vendors are paid promptly and records are maintained according to company policy.
Key Responsibilities
- Process daily Accounts Payable (A/P) transactions and prepare related reports
- Receive and verify invoices and requisitions for goods and services
- Enter invoices for payment and process backup reports
- Record weekly check runs and manage vendor payments
- Prepare and mail vendor checks; maintain organized tracking of payments
- Verify coding and approvals for invoices and expense reports
- Maintain electronic and physical filing systems for accounting and vendor records
- Reconcile A/P accounts to ensure accuracy and compliance
- Assist with month-end financial reporting and analysis for the Controller
- Assist with general office support tasks such as answering and directing incoming calls, routing messages, and maintaining organized invoice and vendor filing systems.
- Uphold company financial policies and provide courteous service to vendors and team members
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; additional accounting coursework preferred
- 2 years of Accounts Payable experience (construction or equipment rental industry a plus)
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); experience with accounting software
- Strong 10-key and data-entry accuracy (minimum 40 WPM)
- Excellent attention to detail, organization, and time management
- Strong communication skills and ability to handle confidential information
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Physical Requirements
- Regularly required to stand, sit, talk, and use hands to handle or control objects
- Occasionally lift or move up to 25 lbs
- Work environment noise level is typically low to moderate
