Turn electrical schematics into finished products that power real-world applications! As a Panel Technician, you'll build and wire custom industrial control panels and OEM equipment alongside a team committed to quality and craftsmanship.
Full-time, on-site.
Monday - Friday. 7 AM - 3:30 PM.
Panel Technician Primary Function
- Build and wire custom industrial control panels as well as OEM products as assigned by the Panel Shop Supervisor, within schedule provided.
$18 - $22/hour

Panel Technician Essential Responsibilities
- Build Custom Industrial Panels and OEM products meeting delivery dates
- Work independently with the project folder and design schematics to complete your responsible job.
- Account for parts required for the job
- Mechanically layout and mount hardware components.
- Wire complete panel in accordance with PFT panel procedures, UL508A specifications, and other best practices as given by the panel shop supervisor.
- In large project situations work with other technicians in a team effort
- Test Custom Industrial Control Panels and OEM Products
- Point to Point wire tests in accordance with PFT testing procedures
- Torque check and marking in accordance with PFT procedures
- Be able to perform and fill out the PFT Panel Final Check list
- Maintain a neat and orderly work area at all times
- Organize and maintain shop tools and equipment
- Organize and maintain personal tools
- Organize and maintain your project items and materials
- Help maintain common shop supplies IE Labels, wire ties, wire, etc.
- Assist Apprentices and other Technicians in techniques and procedures
Panel Technician Necessary Qualifications
- Basic Knowledge of Electrical Theory
- BOCES Electrical or AS in an Electrical Technology Field preferred
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings
- Must be able to follow and understand the PFT Shop Guidelines
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals
- Ability to work with other Technicians and Apprentices in a professional manor
- Competent with the use of hand tools, i.e. jigsaw, drills, wrenches, screwdrivers
- Competent with the use of electrical test equipment, i.e. Multi meter
- Valid and Clean Driver's License
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for up to 8 Hours
- Ability to lift 50 pounds
- Ability to work on elevated platforms
- Ability to climb ladders
- This position may require standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching and/or reaching
- You may be exposed to dust, loud noises, and hot and cold conditions
- Good hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills may be required for hand tools, power tools, and other machinery
