Land Survey Field Crew Chief/Leader – Full-Time (Independence, MO 64057 | On-Site)
Join a talented team where your surveying skills directly shape successful projects. We’re looking for an experienced Land Survey Field Crew Chief/Leader who enjoys working outdoors, using modern equipment, and delivering accurate results.
What You’ll Do
- Perform boundary, topographic, leveling, and construction layout surveys.
- Establish and maintain horizontal and vertical control networks with a full range of survey equipment.
- Prepare and verify survey calculations, interpret field data, and ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Maintain organized field notes, reports, sketches, and project files.
- Research project records and analyze deeds, plats, and other data for property and boundary control.
- Operate, care for, and track survey instruments and supplies.
- Follow and promote strong safety practices in the field.
What You Bring
- Experience with automated surveying software, GPS, robotic total stations, digital levels, and related equipment.
- Solid understanding of survey methods, math principles, and land survey terminology.
- Ability to read plans, specs, and graphic instructions.
- Comfortable preparing basic reports, charts, schedules, and maps.
- Strong communication skills and a team-oriented mindset.
Requirements
- Education: High school diploma or GED.
- Experience: 3 years of land surveying experience (5 years preferred).
- License: Valid driver’s license.
- Safety: OSHA 10 training (or willingness to obtain).
- Physical: Able to climb, kneel, crouch, walk on varied terrain, use hand tools, and lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
- Location: Ability to relocate to Independence, MO 64057 and work in person.
