The Bike Fleet Technician is a key Woodward Park City’s Rental team member, reporting to the Guest Experience Manager. This role is centered around repairing, tuning, and maintaining our mountain bike fleet to ensure the highest standard of safety, performance, and reliability for our guests. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical understanding of mountain bikes, including suspension systems, drivetrain components, brake systems, and general bike setup. Fleet Techs will also assist with bike fitting, helmet sizing, and provide expert guidance to guests on equipment selection. While primarily focused on technical service, this position also supports front-line guest interaction. It may include assisting with rentals, retail sales, and answering product inquiries in person or by phone. A solid understanding of action sports culture, the ability to thrive in a fast-paced indoor/outdoor environment, and a passion for delivering next-level guest service are essential. This position plays a crucial role in enhancing the guest experience and contributing to the smooth operation of our bike programs throughout the season.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide an exceptional level of guest service to both internal and external guests, with a strong focus on mountain bike product knowledge, technical support, and guest engagement.
- Maintain a professional and positive demeanor while assisting guests with bike fittings, sizing, and equipment-related questions.
- Lead the pre-season preparation of the mountain bike fleet, including assembly, tuning, safety checks, and ongoing maintenance throughout the season.
- Perform daily and as-needed repair and service of mountain bikes, including drivetrain adjustments, brake bleeds, suspension tuning, wheel truing, and general troubleshooting.
- Maintain detailed records of repairs, maintenance logs, and service history for all fleet equipment.
- Safely operate tools and diagnostic equipment per industry best practices and manufacturer specifications.
- Collaborate with internal departments (Retail, Programming, Guest Experience) to ensure seamless and efficient service delivery to guests.
- Assist with consistent opening/closing procedures, including organizing the workshop and managing tools and supplies.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized workspace in both public-facing and back-of-house areas.
- Set a positive example for teammates by demonstrating initiative, accountability, and a solutions-oriented mindset.
- Attend scheduled training and stay current on evolving bike technologies, product offerings, and industry trends.
- Support operations across the rental and retail departments during peak business periods or special events.
Preferred Experience / Special Skills
- Prior experience in bike maintenance, bike shop service, or fleet management is strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with modern bike technology, including hydraulic disc brakes, tubeless setups, and suspension systems.
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills with attention to detail and safety.
- Experience with rental systems, point-of-sale platforms, and basic computer software.
- Demonstrated commitment to outstanding guest service and team collaboration.
- Knowledge of and enthusiasm for the action sports industry and mountain lifestyle.
Basic Requirements
- A valid driver’s license is required.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to bend, twist, push, pull, lift up to 50 lbs, and work on your feet for extended periods.
- Comfortable working indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions, including summer heat and variable mountain environments.
- Must be available to work weekends, holidays, and evenings based on business needs.
