Role Description
POTTERVILLE PUBLIC SCHOOLS is seeking a full-time Secondary School Guidance Counselor to join our team. This on-site position, based in Lansing, MI, involves supporting students’ academic, social, and emotional development. The Guidance Counselor will provide individual and group counseling, assist students in exploring career paths, collaborate with teachers and families to address students’ needs, and create personalized action plans for academic and future success. The counselor will also organize and facilitate workshops, maintain student documentation, and ensure adherence to school policies and ethical standards.
Qualifications
- Strong skills in Student Counseling, individual and group Counseling, and Career Counseling
- Background in Education and expertise in developing student success plans
- Knowledge and application of Psychology concepts in educational settings
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Familiarity with academic and career planning tools and resources
- Master’s degree in School Counseling, Psychology, Education, or related field
- State licensure or certification as a school counselor
- Experience with secondary school students is preferred
