Job Overview
We are seeking a knowledgeable and dedicated Arborist to join our team as a crew leader. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in tree care with a passion for promoting healthy growth in trees. As an Arborist, you will be responsible for ensuring the health and safety of trees while providing exceptional service to our clients. This role requires both technical skills and a commitment to environmental stewardship. Daily functions involve vehicle and equipment upkeep and operation, tree removals, tree pruning, tree planting, tree assessments, spraying/ injecting or otherwise treating trees, drafting and implementing PHC and IPM programs. This is a management position and also requires strong communication and leadership skills, the ability to prioritize tasks and stick to a schedule, and the ability to multi-task. While we prefer applicants hold all the required certifications and skills at the time of application, we are also willing to allow the right candidate to acquire some of them after coming aboard and will be able to help facilitate some of that training at no cost.
Duties
- Perform tree trimming and pruning to maintain tree health and aesthetics.
- Perform tree removals as needed using best management practices.
- Conduct thorough assessments of tree conditions, identifying diseases, pests, or structural issues.
- Implement tree care practices including fertilization, pest management, and soil enhancement.
- Operate bucket trucks/ tracked lifts/ climbing systems safely for high-access tree care tasks.
- Provide expert advice on landscape planning and tree selection for various environments.
- Maintain equipment and tools in good working condition to ensure safety and efficiency.
- Manage a small crew to ensure jobs are completed safely and on time.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in tree care, landscaping, or related fields.
- Knowledge of landscape plants including native and ornamental varieties.
- Familiarity with growing conditions for various tree species.
- Experience operating bucket trucks and other related equipment safely.
- Strong understanding of arboricultural practices and principles.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and perform physical tasks as required.
- Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with clients and team members.
- ISA certification
- CPR/ First Aid certification
- Clean driving record
- Must pass drug test and enter random drug screening program through state DOT
- CDL-A license
- Pesticide applicator license
