About the Role
The Potomac Community Foundation is seeking a STORM Program Director to lead the next phase of growth for STORM (Strategies Targeting Outcomes in Reading & Math) a community-rooted academic enrichment and youth development model serving children and youth in historic Black communities in Montgomery County, Maryland. STORM provides long-term academic support, leadership development, and post-secondary readiness through a continuum that spans elementary school through high school.
This is an exciting leadership opportunity for someone passionate about education, youth development, and community-centered work. The Program Director will strengthen the existing Scotland STORM program, lead the launch of a high school expansion, and oversee replication of the STORM model in one additional historic Black community.
This position is structured as a one-year leadership appointment focused on strengthening the program and positioning it for long-term sustainability.
Responsibilities
The Program Director will provide strategic and operational leadership across two STORM sites.
Key responsibilities include:
(1) Program Leadership
· Provide oversight for STORM programming across grade levels and sites
· Supervise Site Directors and program staff
· Ensure high-quality implementation and program consistency
(2) High School Expansion
· Lead implementation of the Scotland STORM high school pilot
· Align programming across elementary, middle, and high school levels
(3) Program Replication
· Guide the launch of STORM in one additional historic Black community
· Build partnerships with schools, families, and community leaders
(4) Team Leadership
· Recruit, supervise, and coach program staff and instructors
· Foster a mission-driven, collaborative team culture
(5) Community Engagement
· Serve as a visible leader within partner communities
· Build relationships with families, schools, and community organizations
(6) Evaluation & Accountability
· Track program outcomes and key performance indicators
· Provide updates and reporting to leadership and funders
Qualifications
We are seeking a leader with experience in youth development, education, or nonprofit program management.
Required
· Bachelor’s degree in education, social work, public administration, or a related field (Master’s preferred)
· 5–7 years of experience in youth development, education, or nonprofit program leadership
· Experience supervising staff and managing programs
· Strong organizational, communication, and relationship-building skills
· Commitment to community-centered and equity-focused work
Preferred
· Experience with afterschool or academic enrichment programs
· Familiarity with Montgomery County Public Schools or similar systems
· Experience launching or scaling programs
Pay: $80,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
