Key Responsibilities
- Machine Operation & Setup
- Set up and operate laser cutting machines (fiber and/or CO2) to produce high-precision components.
- Interpret and work from technical drawings, blueprints, and CAD files.
- Perform routine maintenance and ensure machines are operating safely and efficiently.
- Programming
- Develop and optimize laser cutting manual programs using G codes and/or CAD/CAM software (e.g., Fusion 360, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Mastercam).
- Adjust cutting parameters based on material type and thickness to ensure quality and minimize waste.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to ensure that tooling meets safety and performance standards.
- Support initiatives to improve workflow and reduce manual labor.
- Quality Assurance
- Inspect finished parts using precision measuring tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, gauges).
- Ensure all components meet dimensional and surface finish specifications.
- Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of machine settings, programs, and maintenance activities.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and provide feedback on process enhancements.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical diploma or associate degree in machining, manufacturing, or mechatronics preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of experience operating and programming laser cutting machines.
- Proficiency in CAD/CAM software.
- Strong understanding of mechanical drawings, tolerances, and materials.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Manufacturing floor environment with exposure to machinery, noise, and metalworking processes.
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required.
