Engineering Lab Technician

We are currently hiring for an Engineering Lab Technician. This person will oversee the daily operations and ensure continuous improvements while seeing that production goals are met efficiently and safely. This role involves supervising production staff, coordinating activities, and maintaining quality standards. 

Duties / Responsibilities 

• Manage and oversee the daily activities of the assembly/test lab.
• Set up test equipment according to customer specifications to measure fluid flow and pressure drop.
•   Process Improvement
  1. Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement changes to enhance productivity and reduce costs, improve efficiency and accuracy, reduce waste, and improve service levels.
  2. Recommend tooling and fixture design to enhance efficiency and first pass yield
  3. Recommend SOPs and production process improvements to support increases in capacity and efficiency.
  4. Implement and maintain preventative maintenance programs. 
  5. Provide input for design for manufacturing, including advice on manufacturing methods, as well as process failure mode and effects analysis
  6. Maintain accurate production records and prepare regular reports on production performance and issues.
  7. Oversee the use and inventory of raw materials and supplies, ensuring efficient utilization and timely replenishment. 
  8. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, conducting regular safety inspections and training sessions. 
• Collaboration
  1. Work closely with other departments, such as Procurement, Engineering, and Quality, to coordinate efforts and resolve production issues. 
  2. Coordinate plant activities by planning with departmental managers to ensure manufacturing objectives are accomplished in a timely and cost-effective manner. 
• Team Leadership 
  1. Lead, motivate, and develop the production team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration to further Company goals and objectives.  
• Assurance
  1. Ensure that all products meet quality standards and regulatory requirements.
  2. Incorporate shop floor organization and plant cleanliness among plant personnel. 
  3. Ensures compliance with Quality and all Company policies, as well as customer requirements of each order.
  4. Ensure compliance with Porvair Quality System requirements.
• Support production through equipment repair, maintenance, and upgrade.
• Coordinate and manage production schedules to meet deadlines and optimize workflow. 
• Identify and resolve operational issues to minimize downtime and ensure continuous production. 
• Other related duties as assigned. 

Qualifications / Training Required

• 3 Year degree or equivalent in a technical area, engineering/science
• Strong leadership and team management skills
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines 
• Able to understand technical specifications and instructions

Work Environment: Assembly Testing / manufacturing site

Physical Demands: Must be able to lift 50 lbs; must be able to access and navigate most areas of the production facility; should be able to see color to discern color-coded specifications.
