What are the responsibilities and job description for the Carpenter position at Portzen Construction, Inc.?
Portzen Construction is seeking full-time Carpenters.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Read blueprints
- Assist in building concrete formwork, pouring and finishing concrete
- Rough framing wood or steel studs
- Finish carpentry including doors, cabinets, countertops, interior and exterior trim
- Ability to take measurements and calculate the size and amount of material needed
- Work with Foreman or Project Superintendent to successfully complete projects
- Ability to understand carpentry techniques and methods of installation and construction
- Proficient in using electrical and manual equipment and measurement tools including powered saw, hammers, rulers, etc.
Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications & Experience:
- Must be at least 18 years old
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent is required to join the apprenticeship program
- Good understanding of basic math
- Able to read and understand construction documents
- Able to follow safety guidelines at all times
- Squat and kneel repeatedly throughout the day
- Lift 75 lbs. (one sheet of BBO plywood) repeatedly throughout the day
- Will work in varied conditions including hot and cold exterior conditions
- Must wear personal protective equipment provided
This position is a full-time position that can be seasonal, some travel may be required within a 150 mile radius of Dubuque.
