The Portsmouth Water District is seeking a water system operator/laborer, Class T-1 and D-1 RI Drinking Water Operator licenses preferred. Persons without licenses are encouraged to apply. This is an ideal opportunity for an applicant with related experience (water main construction laborer, plumbing, maintenance, etc). Responsibilities include: Installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of the water system distribution and treatment facilities, components and mains including pipe, valves, hydrants, pumps, electrical controls, etc. Working in trenches in all weather conditions required. Respond to system alarms and emergencies on a 24-hour, 7-day per week rotating basis, with a maximum response time of 30 minutes.
