Position Purpose
The Assistant Business Administrator supports the Business Administrator in overseeing the financial and operational functions of the school district. This role involves assisting with financial management, budgeting, accounting, payroll, procurement, and compliance. Essential Functions
1. Financial Management:
- Assist in developing and implementing the district’s financial plans and budgets.
- Monitor expenditures and revenues to ensure alignment with the approved budget.
- Prepare financial reports and statements for the administration and the school board.
2. Budgeting:
- Participate in the preparation of the annual budget.
- Participate in the preparation of the annual budget book.
- Analyze budget variances and recommend corrective actions.
- Assist in developing multi-year financial projections.
3. Accounting:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounting records.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts and bank statements.
- Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and district policies.
4. Payroll and Benefits:
- Oversee payroll processing to ensure timely and accurate payment of salaries and wages.
- Manage employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other benefits.
- Address payroll-related inquiries and issues.
5. Procurement and Purchasing:
- Assist with the procurement of goods and services, ensuring adherence to district and city policies and regulations.
- Review and approve purchase orders and contracts.
- Maintain vendor relationships and negotiate favorable terms.
6. Compliance and Auditing:
- Ensure compliance with state and federal financial regulations including grant accounting and reporting.
- Assist with the coordination of internal and external audits.
- Implement and maintain internal controls to protect district assets.
7. Operational Support:
- Support the Business Administrator in overseeing district operations, including facilities management, transportation, and food service.
- Participate in strategic planning and policy development.
- Supervise and train finance and administrative staff as needed.
Additional Duties
- Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Superintendent and Business Admistrator.

- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide, and perform complex arithmetic operations.
- Ability to understand, apply and use personal computers and software applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

- Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding school district finance, transportation, safety and health, and other areas under responsibility.

Qualifications Profile
Certification/License
- CPA Certification or Equivalent preferred.
- NH State Certification as required for position.
- Motor Vehicle Operator's License or ability to provide own transportation.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field (Master's degree preferred)
Experience
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in financial management or administration, preferably in a school district or public sector.

$90,000 - $100,000
