Job Summary And Qualifications
- Performs routine and/or complex testing in specific areas of the lab according to department policies.
- Know policies, procedures and practices necessary to perform specimen processing duties
- Responds to requests for emergency service in a timely manner
- Organizes workload within the department to meet the needs of the institution within established timeframes.
- Answers all incoming phone calls and requests for information in a timely manner
- Reports any incomplete assignments/workload to incoming shift in order to ensure continuity of result reporting.
- Demonstrates the ability to differentiate results of various tests to determine the accuracy of test result and reports any unusual findings/trends to supervisor.
- Maintains clean workstation
- Demonstrates initial and annual competency in all areas including phlebotomy and processing and all computer related functions
- Performs and documents various quality control and equipment maintenance procedures to maintain compliance with internal and external regulations.
- Adheres to hospital policy for reporting patient safety issues, including errors. Consistently “Puts Patient Safety First” when performing job duties or providing care
