Maintenance Manager (Vacation Rentals) — Quechee / Upper Valley, VT
Portoro manages premium short-term rental homes across the Vermont Upper Valley. We are bringing our maintenance in-house and looking for a skilled, dependable Maintenance Manager to own the hands-on repair work that keeps our homes guest-ready year-round.
This is a salaried, full-time W-2 role with benefits, not piecework. If you are a strong all-around handyman who takes pride in fixing things right the first time and likes variety over doing the same job all day, this is built for you.
What you'll do
- Handle day-to-day repairs across a portfolio of vacation homes: appliances, locks, doors, windows, lighting, outlets, fixtures, and general fixes.
- Service and troubleshoot hot tubs and run basic HVAC diagnostics.
- Make deck and exterior repairs, handle light carpentry, and install handrails and hardware.
- Perform non-licensed plumbing and electrical work within your scope.
- Coordinate licensed trades (electricians, plumbers, HVAC, roofing) when a job requires a permit or a license, and see those jobs through to completion.
- Track your work orders, time, and photos in our maintenance app (Breezeway) so owners have a clear record.
- Respond quickly to issues that affect guest stays.
What we're looking for
- 3 years of hands-on maintenance, handyman, facilities, or property repair experience.
- A broad skill set: comfortable across carpentry, basic plumbing, basic electrical, appliances, and general repair.
- Self-directed and reliable. You can run your own daily route and finish what you start.
- Good judgment on when a job is within your scope and when to call in a licensed trade.
- Reliable vehicle and a valid driver's license. Our homes are spread across rural towns, so you will drive between jobs.
- Comfortable using a smartphone app to log work and photos.
Nice to have
- Hot tub or pool maintenance experience.
- HVAC, electrical, or plumbing certifications (not required, but a plus).
- Vacation rental, hospitality, or property management background.
Compensation and benefits
- $55,000/year salary.

Schedule and requirements
- Full-time. Some weekend and holiday availability during peak season.

- Must pass a background check and have a valid driver's license and reliable vehicle.
