TITLE: Physical Education Teacher - Portland High
POSITION OVERVIEW:
Portland High School seeks a physical education teacher as a member of this 3-person department. We are looking for a student-centered instructor who will bring to our physical education department much energy and enthusiasm for working with teenagers in the areas of physical wellness and physical fitness. Students must meet graduation standards in the following areas: Movement/Motor Skills, Physical Fitness, Personal and Social Skills. Courses offered include a foundational PE class, weight training, and team sports.
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelors degree required in PE or Health
- Experience teaching high school students and the creative energy of teaching physical education with limited "green space" a plus
CREDENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Maine State Teacher Certificate with Endorsement 510 (Physical Education, K-12) (more info)
- Maine State CHRC authorization (more info) **
- **if you already have an active teacher certification, you do not need a separate CHRC as this clearance is tied to your teacher certification
