Position Overview:
As a Medical Billing Coding Specialist, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that our medical billing is accurate and compliant with industry standards. You will be responsible for reviewing patient records, assigning appropriate codes for diagnoses and procedures, and collaborating with healthcare providers to resolve any billing discrepancies.
This position is primarily remote; however, occasional on-site meetings or training sessions will be required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and analyze patient medical records to ensure accurate coding of diagnoses and procedures.
- Assign ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes based on established guidelines.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers and revenue cycle specialists to clarify and resolve coding issues.
- Prepare and submit accurate and timely claims to insurance payers.
- Assist the revenue cycle specialists with denial and appeal follow-up as needed.
- Stay current with coding regulations and billing practices to ensure compliance.
- Assist in audits and reviews of coding practices to improve accuracy and efficiency.
- Provide support and training to other staff members as needed.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required, Associates’ degree preferred.
- Valid certification (CPC, CCS, or similar) is required.
- Proven experience in medical billing and coding, preferably prior experience with Gastroenterology or Ambulatory Surgery Center billing.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, coding systems, and insurance reimbursement processes.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Proficient in using electronic health records (EHR) and billing software.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

Pay: $23.00 - $26.50 per hour
