What are the responsibilities and job description for the Machine operator-Production position at Portland French Bakery?
Primary Duties:
1. Must be able to read and decipher daily production orders for the line they are on.
2. Identify the general preferred order in which items are run based on the day of the week.
3. Set up divider and molders/shaping machines to process each product.
4. Gather supplies and tools to complete the production of every product efficiently and effectively.
5. Check weights, lengths, and shapes of each product being run and make adjustments to equipment as needed given the dough condition they are working with.
6. Count and remember number of pans of product produced and know where the product is headed (proofer or cooler).
7. Record in the production software how much product was actually produced.
8. Setup reorders in production software if pan count is short.
9. Communicate all production and/or product issues to immediate supervisor/manager.
10. Communicate with team members/helpers effectively to complete tasks well and in a timely manner.
Skills Needed:
1. Basic reading skills.
2. Basic English comprehension (spoken and written).
3. Basic Computer skills.
4. Good communication.
5. Ability to read, memorize, and retain basic product information (weights, lengths, type of pan used, type of rack used, and how it will be further processed).
6. Baking or bread manufacturing foundational knowledge.
7. Some Mechanical knowledge/experience.
Job requirements:
1. Standing in one position for extended amounts of time.
2. Bending, lifting, pushing, pulling of weights between 5 and 50 lbs. often.
3. Having the ability to change tasks quickly and effectively.
4. Flexible schedule is a must to cover vacations and increased holiday workloads. Includes possible split days off (only out of TEMPORARY need) never because it is easier for management.
5. Ability to work 8 hours per day or until production is completed (depends on orders/workload).
