What are the responsibilities and job description for the Construction Lead position at Port of Galveston?
The Construction Lead is responsible for leading and coordinating daily construction and maintenance activities for the Port. This position provides hands-on leadership to construction crews, ensures projects are completed safely, efficiently, and according to plans and specifications, and coordinates with contractors, vendors, and Port staff.
Essential Duties
- Lead and coordinate daily construction activities and assigned crews.
- Monitor construction work to ensure quality, safety, and compliance with plans and specifications.
- Coordinate with contractors, inspectors, vendors, and internal departments.
- Assist with scheduling, materials, equipment, and manpower needs.
- Identify and address construction issues, delays, and safety concerns.
- Read and interpret construction plans, drawings, and specifications.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials, and project progress.
- Ensure work areas are maintained in a safe and organized condition.
- Perform other construction and maintenance duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 5 years of construction experience, preferably in commercial, industrial, marine, or infrastructure construction.
- Previous lead or supervisory experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, tools, and equipment.
- Ability to read construction plans and specifications.
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work outdoors and in varying weather conditions.
- Valid driver’s license required.
